Quilt Ireland was born from a simple idea: to bring quilters together to celebrate our shared love of quilting, creativity, learning, and community. Whether you are a beginner making your very first quilt, an experienced maker with years of expertise, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of textiles and craftsmanship, Quilt Ireland is for you.

Ireland has a rich heritage of making, creating, and storytelling. Quilting combines all of these traditions, allowing us to express ourselves through fabric, colour, and design while connecting with others who share our passion. We believe quilting is about much more than fabric and thread – it is about friendship, inspiration, learning, and preserving skills for future generations.

Our vision for Quilt Ireland is to create a vibrant and welcoming community that celebrates quilting in all its forms. Through events, exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, stories, and educational opportunities, we hope to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent that exists throughout Ireland.

One of our most exciting projects is the Quilt Ireland Expo, taking place in the beautiful town of Killarney. The Expo will bring together quilters, vendors, speakers, teachers, and quilting enthusiasts for a unique event that combines elements of a quilt show, conference, marketplace, and learning experience. We want it to be a place where friendships are made, ideas are shared, and creativity flourishes.

But this is only the beginning. Our first year is about introducing Quilt Ireland, listening to the community, and creating a foundation for the future. We want this to be yours as much as ours, and we will be guided by the feedback, ideas, and experiences of those who attend.

Future events will be shaped by what the quilting community wants to see, learn, and experience. Whether that is more workshops, exhibitions, speakers, retreats, social gatherings, or opportunities to showcase quilts, we want Quilt Ireland to grow alongside the community it serves.

This first year is the start of a journey, and we are excited to build something special together. Every event, activity, and initiative will be shaped by the people who make up this wonderful quilting community. Our goal is simple: to celebrate quilting, connect people, and create something that quilters across Ireland can be proud to call their own.

Over the coming months and years, we plan to share inspiring stories from quilters around the country, showcase beautiful quilts and exhibitions, provide opportunities for learning, and create events that celebrate the best of Irish quilting. We want Quilt Ireland to become a platform that supports and promotes our quilting community while encouraging new people to discover the joy of quilting.
